At WWE TLC 2019, Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black put on a show-stealing bout as the second match on the card, and they are reportedly superstars Paul Heyman wants to push on Raw.

Paul Heyman has been busy setting the foundation for how he wants the WWE Raw upper mid-card and main event scenes to look in 2020. Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens are set to be the top male babyface and heel program, Asuka and Becky Lynch are about to feud for the Raw Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble, and the likes of Humberto Carrillo and Andrade have engaging storylines.

There seem to be a few wrestlers on Heyman’s radar as people he’d like to push as future stars, and Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black are unsurprisingly squarely on his list.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, via WrestlingNews.Co’s Paul Davis, Dave Meltzer said that Heyman plans to turn Black into a huge babyface on Raw and Murphy a major heel. Per Meltzer, Vince McMahon isn’t necessarily high on either man, but he’s willing to give Heyman the “green light” to push the two men on Monday nights. He also notes that Heyman wanted to do the same with Cedric Alexander earlier this year, but Vince “derailed” it.

Murphy has been one of WWE’s top performers since his breakout year in 2018 on 205 Live, and he eventually became a great Cruiserweight Champion for the brand before moving to SmackDown. He’s had a couple of strong main roster matches, including a brilliant bout with Roman Reigns on the Blue Brand.

As for Aleister, he’s a former NXT Champion who has been tabbed as a future main roster standout since Day 1. There’s no “Best Kept Secret” moniker with him – just devastating Black Masses and beautiful springboard moonsaults.

Meltzer’s report that Black is headed for a push also jibes with Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue’s report that he is headed for “a very strong push”

Black and Murphy are two excellent pure athletes with a great feel for crowd dynamics during their wonderfully-laid matches. Therefore, it’s no surprise that their match at TLC was a breathtaking, stiff encounter that had everyone in the crowd buzzing.

Murphy has all the tools to be a great heel in WWE, but Black could be an especially unique and successful babyface on Monday nights. Here’s to hoping Heyman is able to continue to push these two over the long term in 2020.
