#3. Asuka

In the beginning of 2019, Asuka was reigning as SmackDown Women’s Championship after winning the title from Becky Lynch is the first ever women’s TLC Triple Threat match. Asuka then successfully defeated Becky Lynch to retain the gold at the Royal Rumble in January. She then successfully her title against Mandy Rose at Fastlane before losing it to Charlotte shortly after.

Asuka went on a short hiatus, only to return with an unexpected tag team partner in Kairi Sane, to create the team of The Kabuki Warriors.

This was an unseen story shift for Asuka, but one that proved to be fruitful, as together, The Kabuki Warriors obtained the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles from Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross at Hell in a Cell. Since gaining the Women’s Tag Team Titles in October, The Kabuki Warriors have been prevailing over the women’s tag team division.

Most recently, The Empress of Tomorrow and Kairi Sane picked up a victory against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at TLC for the Women’s Tag Team Titles at TLC.

This victory shows that The Kabuki Warriors, and The Empress of Tomorrow can hang with the best of them as Lynch and Flair are definitely in the top-tier of female wrestlers of today.

From starting out the year as WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, to finishing the year out as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, Asuka certainly had a stellar 2019, which is exactly why she is one of the top WWE women’s wrestlers of 2019.
