At one point, WWE fans were worried that Liv Morgan’s gimmick change would be the “Emmalina” gimmick that Tenille Dashwood never played, but it’s looking more and more like Morgan will play a more nuanced, creepier character.

Even when she was just starting out on the WWE main roster as a member of the Riott Squad faction, Liv Morgan was tabbed as a future women’s champion. Although Morgan didn’t get a chance to truly break out in 2019 on SmackDown, it looks like she’ll have a chance to become a star with a new gimmick in 2020.

Morgan first teased a gimmick change over the summer after losing a match to Charlotte Flair on SmackDown, which was one of the highlights of the night. After the loss, Morgan proclaimed that she would “get real”. And we haven’t seen her since.

However, we have seen several vignettes of Morgan on Raw over the weeks, and these vignettes have become increasingly creepy.

Check out the video package that aired on the Dec. 30 episode of Raw as an example o the tantalizing character that could be coming.

Morgan’s vignettes are of her playing with her hair, getting dressed, or in the bathtub with candles, suggesting a “diva” throwback gimmick a la the one pitched years ago to Emmalina. But if you listen closely to what she’s actually changing – references to the “old me” and “new me” or talking about how one person in particular changed her forever – it’s truly creepy. And not creepy in an over-the-top way, but in a nuanced way that could lead to a truly brilliant character on Raw.

Over the years, Morgan has shown that she has the tools to be a star. She got a blue tongue over, showing that she’s willing to do the little things to stand out. Morgan’s selling and toughness in the ring are excellent, and she is a great athlete to boot. All of those make her a magnetic, charismatic performer who has the “It” factor, but simply needs a gimmick and the right direction to seize on that championship-caliber potential.

It looks like WWE have found a perfect character fit for Morgan, who is about to swerve the fans that aren’t paying close attention to the message behind her vignettes. Something changed Morgan forever, and we’re about to slowly find out what’s happened to the former happy-go-lucky Riotter. And I cannot wait to see her return to television or watch her blow the roof off the place in a Royal Rumble return. She is squarely on the radar as a rising star going into 2020.
