Last night’s WWE Raw ended with the most controversial segment yet in the Rusev, Bobby Lashley, and Lana storyline, but Paul Heyman and Vince McMahon have been thoroughly impressed with The Ravishing One’s mic work. Who else is drawing praise backstage?

Most wrestling fans are about done with the Rusev, Lana, and Bobby Lashley love triangle, which became a four-sided shape after Liv Morgan announced a past relationship (kayfabe, of course) with Lana. Well, technically, it’s a hexagon, since each Lashley and Lana had former spouses emerge to object to the wedding.

Anyway, Vince McMahon and Paul Heyman love creating controversy and using it to milk cash from a curious audience, so they’ve been loving the attention – the three YouTube videos of last night’s main event segment have all done over one million views each –this storyline has garnered over the past month.

Per a source close to Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue, they’ve also been loving Lana’s performances, particularly her improv work on the mic last night.

But Lana isn’t the only superstar on Raw who is drawing rave reviews backstage. Rumors have pointed to Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black as two wrestlers Heyman wants to get over in 2020, and they’ve more than done their part to impress.

After showing off their prodigious talents in the ring with a hard-hitting, show-stealing match at TLC, Murphy and Black had an arguably better match on the Dec. 30 episode of Raw. The finish was particularly brilliant. Murphy countered the Black Mass and went for Murphy’s Law, Black countered Murphy’s Law into a roll-up, Murphy kicked out, and then Black hit his finisher. But Black wasn’t done there, as he lifted up Murphy’s head with his foot to deliver a second Black Mass for good measure.

Per Colohue, WWE has been “very happy” with the work done by these two wrestlers. It sounds like they’re letting them be themselves in the ring and get over that way. And surprise, surprise, it’s working like a charm.

WWE fans have long enjoyed watching Murphy and Black in the ring, and both have been the faces of their brands as champions – Murphy for 205 Live, Black for NXT – in the past. In 2020, don’t be surprised if both men end up holding championships at one point, and it’s great to hear that WWE is fully on board with them. This is an example of Heyman using a feud to get both men over, and hopefully the same can happen for the likes of Humberto Carrillo and Andrade, too.
