Lana has been embroiled in WWE’s most controversial angle after cheating on Rusev with Bobby Lashley…and Liv Morgan (in kayfabe!). In a recent interview, The Ravishing One said that she will get back in the ring in 2020.

We haven’t seen Lana wrestle in WWE since WrestleMania 35 when she participated in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, which was won by Carmella. Lana also participated in an 18-person tag match on SmackDown before ‘Mania, but those were her only two credited matches in 2019.

It’s a shame, too, because Lana showed improved in-ring chops in 2018. Who can forget her performance at Money in the Bank 2018? She turned heads that night in a difficult multi-wrestler ladder match, showing the results of her concentrated efforts to get better as an athlete and wrestler between then and her 2017 summer feud with Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Despite not wrestling in 2019 after WrestleMania, Lana has become one of WWE’s most-discussed wrestlers due to Vince McMahon’s latest salacious angle. She cheated on Rusev with Bobby Lashley, beginning a series of “car wreck” segments that have generated discussion, views, and criticism, but they have also raised Lana’s profile. In fact, a report suggests that Vince and Paul Heyman are both very pleased with her recent work.

Fans can expect Lana to return to the ring in 2020, based on her own words in a recent interview with TV Insider’s Scott Fishman:

"“The crazy thing was returning to TV and Bobby, it was for the season premiere of Monday Night Raw. That was one of the things in my 10 goals is to be something on Raw or Smackdown and impacting people and giving people something to talk about. To see that, literally my wildest dreams come true, it’s mind-blowing. I’m so thankful. I’m making my goals and dreams for the next year, and the sky’s the limit. Yes, I will be getting back in the ring. Anything can happen, it’s WWE. I’d love to be champion — why not?”"

Lana also spoke glowingly about her work with WWE and how much she relishes generating reactions from the crowd, whether good or bad. Rusev’s former manager, Lana recently signed a five-year contract with WWE.

It will be great to see her back in the ring this year after she went months without a match inside the squared circle. Again, Lana has become a better wrestler over the years and should continue to make strides as an all-around performer. She’s certainly grabbed ahold of the spotlight over the past month.
