Kairi Sane suffered a concussion during the wild WWE TLC 2019 main event between the Kabuki Warriors and CharLynch, but officials backstage are optimistic she will be cleared to compete in the Royal Rumble.

The 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble will take place on Jan. 26 at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, and Kairi Sane is one of the sleepers to win.

Although she and Asuka are the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, some fans believe Sane could win and face her tag team partner in a title match at WrestleMania if The Empress were to beat the increasingly desperate Becky Lynch at a second straight Rumble PPV.

But before we talk about fantasy booking scenarios where Sane pulls off a miraculous Rumble victory, she needs to be cleared to compete.

Sane suffered a concussion during a killer Women’s Tag Title defense in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at TLC last month. She finished the match despite the injury, but it was a scary and uncomfortable situation for everyone.

However, there’s good news. Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue reports that it is “very likely” for the former Mae Young Classic winner to appear at the Royal Rumble. Per Colohue, backstage officials believe her chances of being cleared before the Pay Per View are “quite high”.

That’s great news for Sane, because while it’s technically conjecture from the folks backstage and concussions are tricky business, we have to take any positive news where we can get it.

Sane is one of the most respected wrestlers on the planet and has already built up a strong catalogue of matches in WWE since joining the company a couple of years ago. She’s appeared in a Royal Rumble before, too, memorably hitting a TOUGH sliding elbow on WWE legend Lita.

Hopefully, Sane will be part of more exciting moments at this year’s Rumble, and fans will be exciting to “pop” for her return at the Rumble while crossing their fingers for a surprise win.
