WWE Rumors: Two big returns from injury for 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble?
WWE fans are watching closely for possible returns at the 2020 Royal Rumble, and it’s possible The Velveteen Dream and Jinder Mahal could make their returns from injury on Jan. 26.
Recently, the Wrestling Observer News’ Dave Meltzer stated, via Cageside Seats’ Rumor Roundup, that there’s “no word” on when the Velveteen Dream will be ready to make his return from a “pretty serious” back injury.
The Dream hasn’t wrestled since Sept. 18 when he dropped the North American Championship to current champion Roderick Strong on an episode of NXT television. He has been sorely missed.
Now, sources tell PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson that the Velveteen Dream is scheduled to be in Houston during Royal Rumble weekend. The show will take place on Jan. 26 at the Houston Astros’ Minute Maid Park.
Along with the Dream, Jinder Mahal is also scheduled to be in the city during the weekend’s festivities, per Johnson. While this doesn’t guarantee that either man will wrestle in the Men’s Rumble match this year, it does mean that we have more reason to keep an eye out on their statuses as the event draws closer.
Fans have already been expecting Mahal to return from his torn ACL at the Rumble. It seems like everything is lining up for him to return at the event in what will be a feel-good moment. While Mahal wasn’t a popular WWE Champion, fans have since grown to respect him and admire his work ethic. He’s been hyping up his return with some killer Instagram photos of his workouts.
If The Dream returns at the Rumble – and Johnson writes that he’s been at NXT TV tapings and in the Performance Center despite not being on television – then he will undoubtedly get one of the biggest pops of the night. He is one of the most popular wrestlers in the company and viewed by many as a future top star in WWE.
