WWE Royal Rumble 2020: Legend expected to appear in men’s match
WWE Royal Rumble 2020 is less than a week away, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who will win the Men’s Rumble match with Brock Lesnar already announced as the No. 1 entrant.
Prior to the Jan. 20 episode of Monday Night Raw, 19 of the 30 total entrants have been announced for the WWE Royal Rumble 2020 men’s match, with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar set to enter at No. 1.
And now, PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson is reporting that we can expect to see Kane in the Men’s Rumble match as well on Jan. 26 at Minute Maid Park.
Kane appeared on the Jan. 17 episode of Friday Night SmackDown to help further the Universal Championship feud between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt. The two will have their second match against each other at the Royal Rumble Pay Per View on Sunday, and it promises to be a better match than their first encounter at Survivor Series.
As Kane reminded fans on Friday, he has the most eliminations in Royal Rumble history with 44, since he’s also been in the most total Rumbles with 19 appearances. Shawn Michaels is the only other wrestler with at least 40 eliminations in Rumble history. Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman are the only active, full-time wrestlers with 30 career eliminations.
Going into Sunday’s big match, Reigns appears to be the overwhelming favorite to win the match and face The Fiend in the main event of Tampa’s WrestleMania 36, though the likes of Kevin Owens and Lesnar are squarely in the mix.
It will be great to see Kane in the Rumble match on Sunday, especially if a young star gets the rub of eliminating him. There are a number of wrestlers in NXT – the brand is expected to be well-represented at the Pay Per View, especially since it was established as being on equal footing to Raw and SmackDown with a Survivor Series victory – who could be great candidates.
Keith Lee, for example, could make a statement by having the most eliminations at WWE Royal Rumble 2020, including an elimination of the man with the all-time record.
