Sami Zayn wanted to manage Shinsuke Nakamura, work with Cesaro
Sami Zayn is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the world, and he broadened his horizons last year by becoming Shinsuke Nakamura. And it was his idea to make the change.
As a babyface, Sami Zayn was an inspiration to many, with his WWE NXT Championship victory over Neville standing the test of time as one of the greatest babyface triumphs in the brand’s already storied history.
But as a heel, Zayn has shown just how amazing he is on the microphone, cutting savage promos directed at fans and wrestlers alike. His mic skills have served him quite well as Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura‘s manager, and he’s also helped give Mojo Rawley and new stablemate Cesaro some rub with his words.
If you’ve been wondering whose idea it was to have Zayn manage Nakamura, it was the man with the Goldfinger-inspired theme himself.
Better yet, Cesaro told talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy that it was Zayn’s idea to have him join what is now a stable comprised by Zayn, Nakamura, and Cesaro.
We haven’t seen Cesaro, Nakamura, and Zayn accomplish much together on SmackDown so far, but the potential is absolutely there. These are three of the best wrestlers in the world on the same page, and all three of them are solid outside the ring, too. Nakamura has the charisma, Zayn is the wordsmith, and Cesaro can also move between funny and intense when talking.
Cesaro and Nakamura could also gun for the SmackDown Tag Titles, as the division is loaded with The Dirt Sheet, The New Day, and The Usos all aboard. As part of The Bar alongside Sheamus, Cesaro established himself as arguably the best tag team wrestler in the company, so it would be exciting to see him and Nakamura work together more.
It’s always great to hear WWE superstars pitching interesting ideas. Zayn knew that Nakamura needed some help and saw that Cesaro had nothing to do, and he knew both were too talented to be used incorrectly. Hopefully, these three can have strength in numbers and form a high-quality stable on SmackDown to counteract whatever the heck King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode are supposed to be.
