Will he or won’t he? Was it all irresponsible speculation or was there something more? It turns out it was the latter, as Edge made a shocking return at WWE Royal Rumble 2020.

“You think you know me”. The drums. Myles Kennedy’s incredible voice.

Edge.

The Rated R Superstar made a shocking return to WWE Royal Rumble 2020 in Houston, and the arena absolutely lost it.

There had been plenty of rumors linking Edge to a shocking return to WWE, even though it seemed like he’d never wrestle again after a serious neck injury that nearly ended his career.

WWE seem to exercise incredible caution when bringing back wrestlers, so while it is a bit nerve-wracking to see Edge back in the ring, hopefully he is indeed healthy enough and in a safe position.

And it was incredible seeing the emotional look on his face, the pyro explode on his entrance, and the Spears as he cleaned out the ring.

Edge had an early staredown with AJ Styles, even eliminating the two-time WWE Champion and fellow living legend.

It will be exciting to see the role Edge plays this WrestleMania season, but, for now, it’s all about living in the moment. This was one of the most incredible returns in WWE history, and while there were several rumors pointing towards his Royal Rumble return, it was still an absolute shock due to the sheer insanity of it actually happening.

Edge back in a WWE ring. Eliminating AJ Styles. Taking bumps for Matt Riddle. In 2020.

It’s truly an amazing time to be a wrestling fan. The blend of past and present in the ring during the 2020 Royal Rumble matches was a clear reminder of that.

And how about that Rated RKO reunion eliminating The O.C.?

And yes, I’m totally still replaying the moment where Edge showed up and head-banging to the drums of Alter Bridge’s “Metalingus”.

Next. Who won the Royal Rumble?. dark

What a day indeed.

But one thing is still in my mind: I hope he’s healthy and able to stay safe in the ring.
