John Cena will return to WWE SmackDown this week on Feb. 28, and here are three possible ways the company can make the biggest use of his time on the screen.

Nowadays, John Cena is a rare sight on WWE television due to his increasing obligations in Hollywood. But despite his diminished presence on television, Cena’s impact on professoinal wrestling as a crossover superstar is as profound as ever. When Cena does show up on our screens, we feel that much more graced by his presence.

Despite spending the prime of his wrestling career booed by audiences – it’s the burden a top star must bear, after all – Cena is beloved by all corners of the WWE Universe. So when he returns this week on WWE SmackDown in his hometown of Boston at the TD Garden, you can bet everyone in the arena (and online!) will be buzzing.

Before WrestleMania 35, Cena put over Becky Lynch in a segment and then put over Finn Balor in a match. He’s doing whatever he can to help the next generation of wrestlers, though WWE likely also want Cena to be a part of big-ticket matches with the so-called “old-timers” to draw in fans looking for nostalgia.

It’s a balancing act. Here are three possible segments for Cena to be a part of when he makes his return to SmackDown, which has always felt like the 16-time champion’s true home.
