Trish Stratus teased a match with Sasha Banks. This would be a WrestleMania level match.

After teasing her fans on social media for a couple of days, Trish Status revealed a video to celebrate twenty years of Stratusfaction. At 13 seconds, there was yet another teaser. Blink and you might miss it; there’s a quick clip of Stratus in the ring with Sasha Banks.

In the video, the date March 19 is shown. That is twenty years to the day of Stratus’ debut in WWE on Sunday Night Heat. Stratus retired after her match against another member of the Horsewomen, Charlotte Flair, at SummerSlam last year. Social media was instantly abuzz with the idea of Stratus vs. Banks finally facing off one-on-one. Could we get an official match announcement on this date?

As of now, Banks does not have a WrestleMania opponent. She’s been rehabbing an ankle injury since before the Royal Rumble. Rumors have been swirling that “The Legit Boss” would face her best friend, Bayley, for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bayley has her hands full with both Naomi and Carmella.

That match deserves a proper buildup, so it seems like the long awaited match will happen after WrestleMania (SummerSlam in Banks’ hometown, anyone?). That leaves Banks wide open.

The match was first teased at the 2018 Royal Rumble after Banks eliminated Stratus. In November of that year, Stratus admitted that Banks would be one of the dream opponents. In May 2019, Stratus tweeted a picture of the pair with lyrics from Banks’ theme as the caption. Banks replied that she’s “a mark” and Bayley followed up with “it’s time.”

Stratus is a WWE Hall of Famer and one of the most beloved WWE Superstars to ever step in the squared circle. Banks has had iconic matches and is one of the most popular current Superstars. This is the type of generational dream match that fans want and need. Can one of the best of the previous decade go toe-to-toe with one of today’s best? Will “The Legit Boss” make Stratus 0-2 against the Horsewomen?

WrestleMania is made for matches like this. It’s hard to have these kinds of dream matches between generations and fans should get them whenever they can. This one is sure to provide plenty of Legit Stratusfaction for everyone.
