WWE NXT TakeOver Tampa 2020 Predictions: Velveteen Dream Becomes Champion

Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai vs. Candice LeRae vs. Io Shirai vs. Mia Yim vs. Chelsea Green vs. Toni Storm vs. Bianca Belair [NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Ladder Match]

General Manager William Regal officially confirmed that NXT TakeOver: Tampa will feature a ladder match to determine the next #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. The competitors for this ladder match will be determined by a series of qualifying matches over the next few weeks with Chelsea Green being the only person who has officially earned a spot in the match so far.

Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, Candice LeRae, Io Shirai, Mia Yim, Bianca Belair, and Toni Storm are the top superstars in the women’s division and will most likely be the seven other additions to this ladder match. Although many WWE fans may advocate for Io Shirai to win this ladder match, Dakota Kai, the Future Star of the Year, should win this match with some help from Speedy Gonzalez to solidify her ‘dope’ heel turn.

Winning this match will also allow her to defeat all the babyface superstars who replaced her in Team Ripley for War Games and eventually lead her into battling the captain, Rhea Ripley, for the NXT Women’s Championship once Ripley retains the championship against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36. Captain Ripley vs. Captain Kota would be pretty ‘dope’ and winning the NXT Women’s Championship from Ripley would be a key element in fulfilling the storyline behind Kai’s heel turn as well as cement herself as the top heel in NXT.

Prediction: Dakota Kai
