There has been plenty of uproar this week over Ricochet losing to the 24/7 Champion last Monday. Now, current WWE rumors and speculation suggests he wasn’t even supposed to wrestle him originally.

To say this has been a bad week for Ricochet might be an understatement. Just four days after being defeated by Brock Lesnar with ease after delivering little to no offense in his first WWE Championship match, he was pinned clean by Riddick Moss in a 24/7 Championship match.

This was enough to convince many fans and critics that the former United States Champion was in the process of being buried. Whether you agree with that assumption or not, the speculation only grows thanks to a new rumor started by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

According to Meltzer (h/t IW Nerd), Moss was actually originally penciled in to defend his title against R-Truth (which makes sense, as they have been feuding over the belt for the past month or so). However, for whatever reason, Vince McMahon personally changed the card at the last possible minute and booked Ricochet as Moss’ new opponent to beat.

It is unclear exactly why the WWE Chairman would make that decision to begin with, but if the plans were originally for Moss to get a clean victory over R-Truth, it makes sense as to why Ricochet took the pin so easily if Truth was originally set to be in his shoes.

Now, the bigger question is not why Ricochet lost to Moss, but rather what could be next for both men? Does Moss continue his feud with Truth after this, or is it over? Speaking of feuds, with none lined up for Ricochet right now, what could be next for him?

We will have to wait and see on the next Raw and during the road to WrestleMania as to how (or if) these questions get answered.
