Daniel Bryan vs. Drew Gulak

Result: Daniel Bryan (via K.O.)

Grade: B+

After many submission maneuvers going back and forth between Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak, Daniel Bryan attempts to rally back with strikes while Gulak continually counters with submission holds as much as possible. Gulak steps it up a notch by focusing his attacks on Bryan’s neck with spinning neck-breakers, back suplexes, and thunderous elbows.

Bryan rallies back with a Dragon Suplex but Gulak counters with German Suplexes, one of which Bryan landed right on his head. Despite that nasty bump, Bryan rallies back with a backflip off the top rope and a running clothesline.

Drew Gulak rallies back to deliver an Inverted Suplex from the Top Rope and attempts to transition it into the GuLock. However, Daniel Bryan quickly counters it into a ‘Yes’ Lock to make Gulak pass out for the victory.

Analysis: This match was technically sound, as expected. The in-ring psychology was also on point because Daniel Bryan acted as if he underestimated Gulak throughout the match to sell the point that Gulak actually knows the weaknesses in Bryan’s arsenal.

It took only one match with Bryan to highlight the many dimensions of Gulak’s character. Very nice to see Gulak get the rub from Daniel Bryan here.
