Heading into her match at WrestleMania 36, this is the most confident we have ever seen Becky Lynch as WWE Raw Women’s Champion. And it could cost her.

You may have noticed by now that Becky Lynch is the cockiest, most confident that we have seen her on WWE TV in quite some time. She’s always had that firecracker personality and a Devil May Care attitude, but we’ve never seen her boast to the level that she’s dotting a king’s crown and cape on national television and brushing off challenges from the likes of Shayna Baszler, her WrestleMania opponent.

What happened to The Man to suddenly get her walking around like the Big Man on Campus? Simply put: Asuka happened.

This time three months ago, Lynch was the polar opposite of how we see her today. When faced with the only woman she’s never beaten and the same woman who has had her number for over a year, The Man didn’t act like The Man.

She acted the least confident we have ever seen her in her career up to then. It got to the point where she was practically quaking at contract signings in front of Asuka, hand trembling as she struggling to sign on the dotted line.

But then, she finally beat Asuka. Not just once, but twice in consecutive weeks. Playing into that storyline, Becky Lynch conquered her biggest fear and not only had a newfound confidence, she was ready to take on the world.

Unlucky for her, the world arrived in the form of former UFC fighter and the only two time, longest consecutive reigning NXT Women’s Champion in WWE history: Shayna Baszler.

Any other competitor would be taking a threat like The Queen of Spades seriously, but The Man just conquered who she deemed to be the biggest threat to her title she has ever had in the last year. Why should she worry?

She should, because taking an easy on Baszler is exactly what is going to cost her the title at WrestleMania. It seems to me that the road is paving for Becky Lynch – after taking Baszler lightly – is going to walk into not only a defeat, but a crushing one.

The Man may very well be walking into her own demise. A slaughterfest, perhaps. Don’t be surprised if after weeks of her character not training (mentally or physically) for Baszler, she ends up getting demolished by Shayna Baszler and watching as Baszler gets her hand raised with title in hand.

CM Punk vs. Will Ospreay is the dream match we need. dark. Next

Where Becky Lynch could go afterwards, I have no idea. Maybe she rides off into the sunset for the intense training she should’ve done months prior and comes back better than ever to reclaim her belt. All I know is that the way this story is currently projected, it feels like even though Becky Lynch needed to beat Asuka to regain her confidence, a loss to Shayna Baszler could bring that confidence back down to reality.
