WWE Raw: Kevin Owens will finally get his WrestleMania moment
Seth Rollins may have been at his hypocritical worst on WWE Raw, but the Monday Night Messiah’s “prophetic” words will backfire at WrestleMania when Kevin Owens gets his moment.
For the better part of his latest monologue on WWE Raw, Seth Rollins put himself over. He claimed that the Performance Center was built on his blood, sweat, and tears, taking credit for the rise of superstars on the NXT roster. He even gave himself credit for starting the Women’s Revolution in the company, which is a statement Stephanie McMahon surprisingly allowed into the script.
Rollins spoke about his dedication in independent wrestling and his journey to WWE as if Kevin Owens had never been through the exact same journey. He ranted and raved about how he started everything in NXT, ignoring the important role Owens also played in the Black and Gold brand’s development as a former champion and key star. His win over John Cena on Raw, after all, helped set in fans’ minds that NXT was a big deal.
But Rollins saved his sharpest blows for the end of the segment, after pleading with Owens to allow him to continue with his latest “sermon”. The Monday Night Messiah ran down his WrestleMania record. Won the Intercontinental Championship. Cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase. Beat Triple H. Beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title.
Rollins has done it all at the Show of Shows, whereas Owens’ resume, per the former King and Beastslayer himself, reads “failure”. The former Authority puppet made sure to throw in one final shot: Kevin Owens wasn’t even good enough to make the card last year.
All of these arrogant, embellished statements from Rollins only set in motion his ultimate downfall as a self-appointed holy figure. The brainwasher is about to be wiped away by one of WWE Raw’s hottest babyfaces over the past few months.
Because at the end of the day, what Rollins is saying is factual. He’s been one of the most decorated superstars at WrestleMania over the past decade, whereas Owens, for all of his accomplishments in professional wrestling in WWE and beyond, has nothing to show for it.
That’s exactly why Owens will prevail at WrestleMania 36. Rollins is conceited and hiding behind the false sense of security that only a false prophet can give himself. He’s content to ride his past success and underestimate an opponent that a wrestler with his experience should know to not underestimate.
Meanwhile, Owens will fight as he always does. He will fight with tenacity, pride, and a newfound understanding of composed righteousness that now drives him. Owens has been waiting for his WrestleMania moment for years, and he’ll finally get it on the weekend of Apr. 4 against the man who has made his life hell since Survivor Series.
