WWE SmackDown: Roman Reigns showed Goldberg isn’t in his league
On the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns owned Goldberg and showed the world why there can be only one winner at WrestleMania 36.
To reference Sum 41, Goldberg is a walking disaster as the Universal Champion. The fans tuning into WWE SmackDown know he’s a legend in wrestling, but they’ve seen this scenario play out before where he wins the Universal Title close to WrestleMania season and does absolutely nothing with it. But at least this time, an actual, full-time champion will take his place in Roman Reigns, as opposed to Brock Lesnar three years ago.
In the meantime, WWE is doing its best to build towards Reigns’ crowning moment over Goldberg at WrestleMania. Contract signing segments are terrible and overplayed, yes, but at least the latest one on SmackDown gave us a golden moment in which Reigns showed how massive the gap between him and Goldberg is at this point.
Michael Cole moderated the segment and brought up a seed Reigns planted in January, before Goldberg even touched a Universal Title opportunity. The Big Dog took a shot at Goldberg on Twitter:

It was a brilliant tweet that didn’t specifically mention Goldberg, and it was great to see WWE make us of it in the build to this WrestleMania match.
Cole asked Reigns to explain why he tweeted this, and Reigns gave the perfect response:
"“Why take that shot? Why not? As far as I’m concerned, the only thing I see is a little bitch bulldog sitting in my yard, holding my title that he never earned.”"
Gotta love the Georgia Tech vs. Georgia rivalry reference!
I won’t transcribe Goldberg’s quote, because it was hilariously bad. You should watch the segment here and laugh at Goldberg’s response, or simply picture Matt Riddle nonchalantly smiling and shrugging his shoulders.
Goldberg’s retort to Roman Reigns eviscerating him on SmackDown on FOX began with “Listen, Punk”, which foreshadowed the stupidity of what followed.
He said he’s been breaking steel doors all over the world for years and Reigns will be the next victim at WrestleMania.
How on earth does that make sense? Goldberg was verbally destroyed by Reigns, called a bitch, and rightfully called an undeserving champion for winning a random match in Saudi Arabia after not working regularly on the road like Reigns and others. And his response was to say, “Oh yeah, but I have done this really stupid thing where I smash my head at a steel door for years, and I’m going to do that at WrestleMania to you, too!”

Goodbye, Goldberg. I can’t wait for Roman Reigns to defeat him at WrestleMania and give WWE SmackDown a champion who can put on great matches, cut coherent and relatable promos, leverage social media, and make the Universal Championship feel like more than a prop.
