WrestleMania will take place over two nights this year, which means there will be two main events. Could Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler be one of them?

Becky Lynch became WWE’s top star last year at WrestleMania 35 when she defeated Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey to win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships in the first-ever women’s main event at the Show of Shows.

And while fans have been quietly disappointed at the prospect of not seeing women main event one year after they finally had the opportunity to do so in 2019, the door is still open for a women’s match to close one of the show’s two nights.

At first, it was rumored that the two male world title matches – Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg and Drew McIntyre vs. Brock Lesnar – would be the main events of both nights.

However, a source has told WrestleVotes that fans should not be “surprised” if a women’s match main events Saturday’s portion of WrestleMania 36. WrestleVotes specifically highlighted Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler as the match that could main event on Saturday.

Since there are two nights, it would only be fair for the women and men to split main events, regardless of how much Paul Heyman would want Lesnar vs. McIntyre to go on last or Vince McMahon would want Reigns vs. Goldberg to close the show.

Lynch vs. Baszler would be the favorite to main event one of the nights of WrestleMania, since it’s a massive singles match for the Raw Women’s Championship between two wrestlers who have been among the most dominant champions in WWE over the last handful of years. The story has a great dynamic to it, too, befitting of the main event.

But Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship would also be quite the story as a WrestleMania main event. It’s the first NXT match on the WrestleMania card and features two incredible athletes who are more than capable of stealing the show. So why not give them the show, so to speak?

I’d expect Baszler vs. Lynch to main event based on Lynch’s star power, as she and Reigns are the top stars on their respective brands. Hence, why they were both on the cover of the latest WWE 2K video game. That said, I’m still keeping Flair vs. Ripley on my mind, too.
