At WrestleMania 36, Becky Lynch became entrenched as the most unbeatable WWE superstar when she took down Shayna Baszler.

Coming into WrestleMania 36, Shayna Baszler had been billed as the most dominant opponent Becky Lynch had faced to date as the WWE Raw Women’s Champion.

Becky’s meteoric rise to becoming the hero of the first women’s WrestleMania main event at WM 35 included a Royal Rumble victory and a win over Charlotte Flair in a Last Woman Standing match at Evolution. And in order to win both titles at the Show of Shows, she had to beat both Charlotte and the previously undefeated – in singles competition – Ronda Rousey.

And Lynch had plenty of challenges during her reign as Raw Women’s Champion, including a rematch with Asuka at Royal Rumble 2020 which was as acclaimed as their first matchup in 2019.

Lynch stood tall to test after test, showing an incredible amount of confidence after she defeated The Empress of Tomorrow – her last debt to take care of – at the Rumble.

At one point, it seemed like her confidence was being built up for a major fall at WrestleMania. Because after Shayna Baszler became the first wrestler in WWE history to win an Elimination Chamber match by literally eliminating every single other competitor in the match, it seemed like Becky was in line for a humbling loss.

The Queen of Spades, who is the only two-time NXT Women’s Champion in history, gloated about how she would destroy Becky by taking the Raw Women’s Title away from her. Baszler repeatedly attacked Becky from behind, even literally taking a bite out of her when she first debuted on Raw.

Yet at WrestleMania, it was Becky Lynch who humbled Shayna Baszler. It was Becky who backed up her confident words, as she surmised that the former NXT standout had underestimated her. Shayna would often point to her MMA past and positioned herself as a killer, yet she forgot that Becky has taken down trained killers before. Look no further than her huge WrestleMania 35 and Royal Rumble 2020 title victories over Rousey and Asuka, respectively.

While Lynch’s win at WrestleMania 36 over Baszler wasn’t dominant, she found a way to win. Like she always does.

Lynch’s dominance is different from anyone else’s. She is WWE’s most dominant wrestler right now, even though she doesn’t destroy her opponents. Instead, Lynch has the resiliency, preparedness, self-belief, and overall mentality of a serial winner. In this title match against Baszler, Lynch knew she came in as something of an underdog despite being a year-long champion, because most people assumed Baszler would tear her apart.

Instead, Lynch outlasted and outsmarted Baszler, taking a page out of former rival Kairi Sane’s book by using the Kirifuda Clutch against Baszler. Once again, Lynch’s ability to make instinctive, correct decisions in critical moments and her guile and survival skills won out.

There’s a way to be a dominant, babyface champion while still not being the favorite every match, and Becky Lynch has found the formula. After this win over Baszler, Lynch stands alone in WWE as the toughest superstar to stop.
