With Drew McIntyre capturing the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36, that leaves only one final step to complete the prophecy of 3MB.

At WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre did something that had been 19 years in the making for him. Beginning his training back in 2001 at only 15 years of age, McIntyre has had a rocky career leading to his WrestleMania moment holding the WWE Championship over a defeated Brock Lesnar.

It was a powerful moment for McIntyre, but it was also the second step towards completing the most important prophecy in wrestling. No, I’m not talking about the “prophecy” of The Undisputed Era being draped in gold.

This is about 3MB, The 3-Man Band. The legendary trio of Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, and leader Heath Slater burst onto the scene back in the fall of 2012. All three superstars had been struggling to find their footing individually, and after forming had a six-match winning streak as a group, including a victory on the Survivor Series 2012 Kickoff Show.

Unfortunately, WWE management lost sight of their greatness soon after and 3MB ended up with a career record of 12 wins and 75 losses as a group. It’s truly tragic, considering the charisma they exuded in moments like this WWE App Exclusive of Jinder Mahal talking to a horse.

On Jun. 12, 2014, tragedy struck after 630 glorious days of 3MB. WWE made one of their most egregious mistakes by releasing both Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre from their contracts. However, we can thank the good lord above that Heath Slater managed to stay with the company. After all, he’s got kids. He needs this job.

Over the next few years, wrestling felt the terrible absence of 3MB. Their destruction at the hands of WWE management sent shockwaves throughout the industry that are still being felt to this day, but all great tragedies lead to redemption.

Make no mistake, the story of 3MB is about redemption. That redemption began on Aug. 1, 2016, but the despicable Raw General Manager Mick Foley refused to allow the reunion to take place as it should.

Jinder Mahal was back after proving his worth on the independent scene, but rather than utilizing the two-thirds he had of one of wrestling’s greatest trios, Mick Foley pitted them against each other with only one getting a spot on the Raw roster. Jinder Mahal took the victory, and that is where his redemption began.

On May 21, 2017, less than one year after his return to WWE, we saw Jinder Mahal achieve that redemption and stop himself from being hindered by defeating Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. It was truly glorious, and Mahal’s title reign will go down in history as undeniably unforgettable.

Meanwhile, just a month and change before that happened, we saw a second redemption story begin. Drew McIntyre, after proving himself on the independent scene in the same way Mahal had, re-signed with WWE.

On August 19, 2017, almost five years after 3MB had formed, Drew McIntyre became the NXT Champion. He was well on his way, and once McIntyre moved to the main roster it was only a matter of time before he crossed paths with his old pal and legendary stablemate Heath Slater.

McIntyre had the opportunity to reunite with Slater, and perhaps even bring Jinder Mahal into the fold as well and resurrect 3MB. Unfortunately, he had been fully corrupted by his alliance with the dastardly Shane McMahon. McIntyre viciously attacked Slater, who needs this job and has kids.

Finally, after scratching his way back to the top and winning the 2020 Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre slayed “The Beast Incarnate” and left WrestleMania 36 as the new WWE Champion. His redemption is complete, but one man’s redemption remains.

Heath Slater was the leader of the most impactful trio in WWE history. The Shield, The New Day, nWo, they’re all living in the shadow of 3MB. Now, the time has finally come for Slater to fulfill the prophecy and prove their greatness.

WWE may have taken 3MB from us, but they couldn’t hold them down forever. Jinder Mahal worked harder than any had before him, and he found his way back and forced their hand in making him WWE Champion as he’d always deserved.

Drew McIntyre went to the independent scene and made a name for himself all over the world, ultimately showing WWE just how wrong their were. Now, McIntyre is a former NXT Champion, Royal Rumble winner, and the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Heavyweight Champion of the World.

That just leaves Heath Slater, who never left WWE. I’m sure you’re wondering why. Sure, he’s had his moments over the years with tag team success and brief glimpses of Slater’s brilliance, but McIntyre and Mahal had one huge advantage over Slater.

They don’t have kids. When WWE released them, they could go cut their teeth and risk everything to prove themselves. Heath Slater has never been able to take those risks. He needs this job. He’s got kids. Look at all of his kids.

Despite WWE’s failure to recognize his greatness, Heath Slater has managed to hold on and stay with the company for over a decade, even when they refused to keep him under contract. It’s time to reward his dedication as a competitor and a father by fulfilling the prophecy.

Heath Slater must become WWE Champion. Thanks to the jealous actions of WWE management certainly scared of Slater’s talents, both Mahal and McIntyre were forced to turn on him to get to the top.

dark. Next. WWE should use cinematic matches as intermission during live PPV events

Heath Slater has never done that. He’s been loyal to 3MB and continued to use the group’s theme song to this day. Slater has been loyal to WWE, even when he probably shouldn’t have been. Now, he needs his moment. He needs to be WWE Champion. He’s got kids.
