With the WWE Raw Women’s Champion sudden interest in the product, NXT UK could finally grab the attention of those outside the United Kingdom.

In a new interview with the Irish Mirror, WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch admitted that she “would love to” go back to her native Dublin land to take part in NXT UK’s next TakeOver event.

This would not be the first time that a main roster WWE Superstar would make their way to the company’s UK-based NXT spinoff. In fact, WWE have often had their top stars cameo on the show in hopes of bringing more eyes to the product.

We saw Cesaro make a quick stop to take on Ilja Dragunov and Finn Balor – who is once again making appearances to feud with United Kingdom Champion, WALTER – did the same to wrestle Jordan Devlin. But alas, it did little to spark any interest for those overseas in the States.

NXT UK is obviously going to have an audience in the UK, but for now at least, it lacks the same global appeal that US shows like Raw, SmackDown, or even regular ole NXT share. NXT UK appeals to the UK and for the most part at least, the UK only.

There’s nothing wrong with NXT UK, per say. In fact, it houses some of the very best wrestling in the world and has had some of the best wrestling matches in all of the world; last year’s MOTY candidate WALTER vs. Tyler Bate included. It just lacks real star power at the moment.

It needs a certain mega-star who could gravitate global eyes onto the product and let everyone know just how great NXT UK is.

Enter the history maker, the game changer, first woman to main event WrestleMania and walk out as the Champ Champ; came out and revolutionized the entire industry. I’m talking about The Man, the Raw Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch!

Nicknames and Sportscenter references aside, Becky Lynch is exactly the spark NXT UK needs to get outsiders interested in the product.

As the the unquestionable top star of the company and one of its top merch sellers, there is an audience that will watch everything that Becky Lynch is apart of. Be it media appearances, promos, interviews, award show appearances, and especially wrestling matches.

Even if it’s just for a one-off appearance at TakeOver Dublin, just put Lynch in the ring with, say, Toni Storm, or Piper Niven, or the UK Women’s Champ herself Kay Lee Ray. Let them have the five star classic they would be capable of putting on, watch as outsider fans tune in and be awed.

When they see the magic that UK stars can put on, fans may be compelled to tell their friends and their friends’ friends about what they saw and before they know it, they’ll be watching NXT UK regularly. Hopefully, WWE actually take Lynch’s words at face value and consider adding her to TakeOver when the time’s right.
