Wait, did they really film part of Money in the Bank on top of WWE Headquarters?
WWE is gearing up for Money in the Bank on May 10, and it looks like it’ll be one of the most unique events they’ve ever produced.
WWE Money in the Bank comes to us on May 10, 2020, though it won’t be from the originally planned venue of Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD. That planned event was cancelled by the arena due to the continued threat of COVID-19, but WWE has continued to advertise the upcoming pay-per-view.
Originally, it seemed like we could expect it to take place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL. WWE has been filming there for weeks, and hosted WrestleMania 36 at the facility.
Reporting earlier today from WrestleVotes indicated that the event would be taking place, but not at the WWE Performance Center. However, new photos, via The Wrestle Daily on Twitter seemed to indicate at least part of the show might be in a truly unorthodox location.
WWE confirmed the news tonight on SmackDown, revealing that the Money in the Bank Ladder Match will take place at WWE Headquarters and the match will start on the ground floor and end on the roof.
Considering the chaotic nature of Money in the Bank, specifically the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, it’s an odd choice to say the least. Built in 1981, the building often referred to as Titan Towers has been WWE Headquarters for the last 35 years.
We’ve seen it play a role in WWE content a few times before, most notably when the mid-2000s iteration of D-Generation X painted their logo on the building. However, this will be the first time we’ve seen anything quite like this.
WWE has had outdoor events in the past, usually WrestleMania, and the time of day tends to drastically affect the look and feel of the match, so it will be interesting to see when things are filmed. For better or worse, this looks like it’ll be an unforgettable and must-see version of Money in the Bank.
