WWE Raw: Asuka, Baszler, Nia Jax shapes strong main event picture
For the second week in a row, WWE Raw showcased a strong women’s main event picture shaping up before our very eyes with Nia Jax, Asuka, and Shayna Baszler.
Last week on WWE Raw, Nia Jax competed in a Triple Threat Match against Asuka and Shayna Baszler. Until it suddenly … wasn’t a match. The match never started because the bell never rang and when the bell didn’t ring, Jax just … left after flattening her opponents with a ladder. Needless to say, viewers at home were disappointed.
But, as a constellation prize, tonight’s episode saw all three women share the ring once more for a segment of MVP’s V.I.P. Lounge. Because obviously, the fine print in his producing contract says he needed to bring back his classic talk show segment.
Anyway, in addition to each woman setting up future, long term feuds with each other and teasing each of their chances to winning the Money in the Bank ladder match this Sunday, it also went on to highlight just how stacked the Raw women’s main event picture is shaping up to be.
We didn’t get a WWE Draft or Superstar Shake-Up this year, but the women’s title picture made some adjustments in more ways than one. For post-Mania season, Nia Jax returned from injury, Baszler became an official member of the Raw roster, and Asuka quietly focused a little further on singles action after being in a tag team for so long.
These were small, simple chess piece adjustments for the division, but they were enough to make the main event picture for the division all the more interesting, and most importantly, it sets up an interesting list of challengers for Becky Lynch.
Regardless of who wins Money in the Bank, the Raw Women’s Championship picture suddenly got a lot more exciting.
