4 WWE Championship opponents for Drew McIntyre after MITB
Jinder Mahal
Drew McIntyre can’t have a Three Man Band “reunion” after Heath Slater was so heartlessly released by the company, but he can face Jinder Mahal, who recently returned from a serious injury.
Mahal is a former WWE Champion in his own right, winning the title three years ago at Backlash at roughly the same time of the year in the pro wrestling calendar. The Modern Day Maharaja hasn’t been anywhere near the main event scene since then, but he’s honestly improved. Plus, fans have grown to respect Mahal, understanding he had some bright moments as a heel amidst Vince McMahon’s horrendous writing.
It seems like McIntyre would love to make an old friend and respected wrestler in Mahal look good. This match would be an easy victory for McIntyre, in the sense that it’s easy to predict him winning. Mahal has no chance.
But that’s what could make this program so good. In addition to the nostalgia factor that we truly do love as fans in spite of our protests, the expectations are so low for Mahal that he could absolutely boost his stock by having a highly competitive match with McIntyre.
With his athleticism, selling, and work ethic, McIntyre can help make Mahal, whose own work ethic is tremendous, look like a million bucks. I think this feud could be next for Raw’s top male champion.
