WWE Money in the Bank 2020: 3 reasons why Bayley should retain vs. Tamina
With Bayley set to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE Money in the Bank 2020, should Tamina beat her? Absolutely not.
And I say that with love for Bayley’s next challenger. I’m as big of a fan of Tamina as much as the next guy, gal, or non-binary person and I feel like she’s been long overdue for a women’s championship run to call her own.
But should that come at the expense of Bayley’s title reign? I don’t think so.
Rather than explain in one singular reason, I’ll explain myself in three.
Tamina’s win would be overshadowed
The day that Bayley loses her SmackDown Women’s Championship and the day that Tamina finally gets her long overdue coronation should be special moments with a special spotlight. But neither would get that special spotlight on a show as packed as Money in the Bank.
This will be a show where, among many things, the PPV’s match of the same name will take place at WWE Headquarters. That concept alone has been the biggest talking point going into the show and will likely be the biggest point of discussion coming out of it.
Tamina vs. Bayley, however, is bound to be overshadowed. Which given the significance of Bayley’s title reign and Tamina’s journey to win her first Women’s Championship, is unfortunate, but it’s a fact.
If WWE ever want to return to this road later down the line, that’d be the smarter option than wasting two special moments on a night that not a lot of people will walk away talking about it.
