Everyone’s expecting Drew McIntyre to retain at WWE Money in the Bank 2020, but what if Seth Rollins pulled an upset? Here’s why he should.

It’s MITB Day! While we’re all salivating at the thought of someone getting thrown off of a roof while reaching for a briefcase (which is probably sick outside of a wrestling context), WWE Money in the Bank 2020 is also where Drew McIntyre will have his first PPV title defense when he defends the WWE Championship against Seth Rollins.

Surely, with this being McIntyre’s first big title defense (outside of a Mania dark match against Big Show, which happened … for reasons), he should successfully walk away as the champion and move towards a long, satisfying reign, right? Wrong.

Well, maybe, because opinions are subjective, but in my humble opinion, I think this is a day where The Monday Night Messiah should reclaim his crown. Why? Let’s break it down in three reasons. Here’s the first:

Rollins Can’t Keep Losing

Raw is at a shortage of top heels right now. Really, for the time being at least, the top heels are just Rollins and AJ Styles. Have McIntyre run through both men at consecutive PPVs, and he’ll be out of challengers by time the summer kicks in.

If nothing else, there needs to be a way to progress Rollins vs. McIntyre for at least a little while longer. A DQ finish is no fun and Rollins losing and immediately challenging McIntyre again is anti-climactic. Plus, between Elimination Chamber and Mania, this would be Rollins’ third straight PPV loss. Not the inkling of a top heel.

But Rollins wins to turn McIntyre into the chaser? That progresses the feud in an interesting way.
