Believability

It’s understandable, to say the least, if someone like Edge, who despite being gone from wrestling for almost a decade, returning to beat Orton at WrestleMania. Though Edge is a part-time performer and just came back from a career-ending injury, he’s still one of the most popular performers in this day of age.

However, him beating Orton a second time around lacks believability as Orton himself has been wrestling full-time since Edge retired. He’s even won multiple world titles since Edge retired back in 2011. While it’s arguable for Edge to get a big win over Orton at Wrestlemania considering the interest in his character, wrestling needs showcase some level of believability.

Many critics have criticized WWE’s booking of their part-time performers, specifically having them defeat established full-time wrestlers that are on WWE programming every week. This was also one of the reasons stars like Bill Goldberg, who is no doubt a wrestling legend, was criticized for beating full-time performers during his latest tenure.

Furthermore, WWE gets criticized quite a lot for lacking believability. For the hype that Edge vs. Orton is getting for their rematch, the best choice regarding the authenticity is to book Orton as the victor going into this match.
