At the half-way point of 2020, and it’s undeniable that the year has offered an enormous amount of unpredictability and change; both inside and outside of WWE’s squared circle.

As the WWE plugs on, the company, its superstars, and fans have navigated through uncertainty to bring us all where we are today.

There have been some ups, there have been plenty of downs, and with that said, it’s hard not to sit back and acknowledge some of WWE’s biggest MVPs (not the character, but the real “most valuable players”) that continue to try and entertain fans this year.

Asuka

I went back and forth on whether or not to include Becky Lynch in this article. After all, The Man did have a stellar start to the year, leading up to WrestleMania 36 and, on a personal note, should have an incredible remainder to 2020 when she welcomes her baby into this world.

But, when we are talking MVPs, especially when you place the novel coronavirus into the mix, Asuka has truly come out into the forefront. Sure, she lost to Lynch at the 2020 Royal Rumble, but what a match that she helped deliver.

To boot, Asuka has worked commentary, a staple within storylines on Monday Night RAW during the pandemic, she won the 2020 Women’s Money in the Bank contract, and eventually became the RAW Women’s Champion.

To also be a part of that (emotional) RAW segment where “The Man” relinquished her title to announce to the world that she’s becoming “The Mom” will forever be engrained in memories of WWE fans everywhere.

Every time I think of the announcement, I think of Asuka chanting, “Becky! Becky!”, and that is something amazing to be a part of, all considering. She is on an incredible path in 2020 so far, and hopefully, she continues to go up from here.
