Sasha Banks may have been looking to steal the show in the ring against Io Shirai, but it was Ryu Maivia that stole the entrance with his NXT debut.

The main event of WWE NXT: Great American Bash saw Sasha Banks taking on Io Shirai in an absolute dream match, but what happened before the match was just as magnificent. With the magnitude of the event, it was no surprise that Sasha Banks looked to pull out all the stops.

“The Boss” even donned brand new patriotic-themed gear for the contest, but new gear is a standard for Banks. Bayley was by her side, but that’s not uncommon either.

Even coming to the ring on a vehicle is pretty standard for big matches featuring Sasha Banks. However, things got taken up to a whole other level this time.

During her entrance, Sasha Banks rode atop a convertible where Bayley was seated in the passenger seat carrying Instagram legend and adorable corgi Ryu Maivia. Fans of Banks are no stranger to Ryu, who has over 45,000 followers on Instagram.

It was a spectacular NXT debut for Ryu Maivia, and led into a fantastic main event between “The Boss” Sasha Banks and reigning NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai. Bayley was at ringside for the contest, whereas it looks like Ryu Maivia watched from the car as his mom proved once again that she’s one of the absolute best in the business.

Unfortunately, Ryu Maivia was likely taken away from ringside at some point during the match. As it wound down, reigning Raw Women’s Champion Asuka made a surprise appearance and delivered a mist to Banks, which allowed Io Shirai to capitalize with a gorgeous moonsault for the victory.

Had Ryu Maivia still been within biting distance, things might have gone very differently once Asuka started to get involved. Despite the loss for Banks, it was a magnificent debut in what will hopefully be a lengthy career for Ryu Maivia.
