The New Day (c) vs. Heavy Machinery [SmackDown Tag Team Championships]

Assuming The New Day retain the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Artist Collective’s Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Extreme Rules 2020, they should select their own SummerSlam opponents. Usually, when a babyface superstar or tag team selects their own opponents, they select a fellow babyface superstar or tag team.

The New Day should select Heavy Machinery as their challengers for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. If not, Otis can cash in his MITB Briefcase to get that tag team championship opportunity alongside Tucker. Although this method of cashing in the MITB Briefcase is atypical, Otis is a tag team wrestler and he did reveal his aspirations of doing exactly this.

Realistically, Otis has not been built to become a future Universal Champion. If he became Universal Champion today, the WWE would just be setting him up for failure and destroying the prestige of that title. Winning the tag team championships with the briefcase makes more sense, and his cash-in should be successful if it occurs at this year’s SummerSlam PPV.

Although this may be frowned upon at face value, Otis would still be making history and reigniting the aura behind the tag team division that has lost the spotlight for so long in the WWE by becoming the first superstar to cash in the MITB Briefcase for tag titles. This is the ideal way to maintain the babyface popularity of Otis while keeping his momentum in a positive direction.

Prediction: Heavy Machinery

Street Profits (c) vs. RooDolph [Raw Tag Team Championships]

Assuming Street Profits retain the Raw Tag Team Championships against Andrade and Angel Garza, they should battle the recently traded tag team of Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. These two tag teams are quite familiar with each other from a kickoff tag team battle royal at WWE Survivor Series 2019, which RooDolph won after eliminating Profits last.

Since they were always on separate brands, Street Profits never got their babyface comeuppance from that defeat. Now that they are Raw Tag Team Champions and RooDolph never got their rematch for the Raw Tag Team Championships that Viking Raiders took from them, it would be convenient for RooDolph to target Viking Raiders’ best friends, Street Profits, for the belts.

Street Profits should retain the Raw Tag Team Championships here to completely run through the entire tag team division. This will force WWE to call up a tag team from NXT, such as Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish, to liven up the infinitesimal Raw Tag Team Division that lacks more depth than the Pacific Ocean.

Prediction: Street Profits
