WWE: Randy Orton Should Formulate A New Legacy
By Mark Justice
On the July 6, 2020, episode of WWE Raw, Randy Orton’s tag victory with Andrade and Angel Garza should be planting the seeds for a new faction.
From 2008-2010, Randy Orton had formed a memorable faction called ‘Legacy’ with fellow second-generation performers, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. Their fathers, Bob Orton, Dusty Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase Sr. respectively, were all integral components of WWE‘s history. This faction was formed and called Legacy because all three superstars were willing and able to continue the legacy of their family names in the WWE.
Randy Orton has already tried to formulate a new ‘Legacy’ by joining forces with another established tag team in The Revival during his WWE Championship feud with Kofi Kingston and The New Day in 2017. This faction was supposed to be called ‘FTRKO’ but the brand split separated Orton from Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, and the thought of them reuniting completely vanished once The Revival made a big move to AEW as FTR.
Fast forward to the July 6, 2020 episode of WWE Raw and one can see Randy Orton victorious with Andrade and Angel Garza in a six-man tag team match against Big Show and Viking Raiders. If anyone is knowledgable of Legacy from 2008-2010 and Orton’s short-term alliance with The Revival in 2017, it must have been pretty difficult to avoid the urge to get excited about the possibility of Orton forming a new faction or joining forces with Andrade and Angel Garza.
Randy Orton, Andrade, and Angel Garza joined forces that night not only because they have common enemies but also because they have common respect for the legendary Ric Flair. During that six-man tag team match, Orton did what Zelina Vega was trying to do for weeks: get Andrade and Angel Garza on the same page. If he can do this in one night, imagine what he could do with them in a long-term faction.
Hopefully, this alliance was not a one-night deal. This faction should be called ‘The Legend Killers.’ That way, Orton can take Andrade and Garza under his wing as they bask in the glory of decimating every legend that comes their way with the end goal of running Monday Night Raw as the top heel faction. Eventually, this decimation will lead to championship gold for all three men: Raw Tag Team Championships for Andrade and Garza and the WWE Championship for Orton.
