WWE Extreme Rules 2020 may be branded as the Horror Show with a strange color scheme, but they picked the right people on the poster.

At WWE Extreme Rules 2020 on July 19, Sasha Banks and Asuka will go toe-to-toe in a rivalry match for the Raw Women’s Championship, while Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt will have a Wyatt Swamp Fight. Those are the two biggest matches, in order, on the card, and it’s not a surprise to see that these four wrestlers are on the Pay Per View poster.

But what makes me the happiest is seeing the United States Champion Apollo Crews featured on the poster. This is the first time he’s made it to a Pay Per View poster, so this is a big deal. WWE has a history of not featuring Black wrestlers prominently or putting titles on them. Apollo being on the Extreme Rules poster matters.

Crews will have a big match against MVP that won’t just be for the US Title, but it will also decide who gets to hold the new belt, which MVP revealed (and pretty much gave himself) on Monday Night Raw this week.

You can check out the poster on WrestlingNews.Co. In addition to the five names mentioned above, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is on the poster.

Apollo being on the poster is amazing, and it’s been a long time coming. He had an Intercontinental Championship feud in 2016 shortly after being called up from NXT, and WWE teased pushing him early in 2019. But he never really got a full push in the title picture until this year, and he ended up winning the United States Championship off Andrade. Better yet, he ended up keeping it.

MVP could win the title from Apollo at WWE Extreme Rules 2020, but Apollo should be seen as the heavy favorite. Wrestling fans are fully behind Apollo, so it’s no surprise that they are elated to see Apollo featured. He always puts in a strong performance in the ring, and his match with MVP could be one of his best yet, given all the emotions involved here.
