Here are results, highlights, and grades from Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

Impact Wrestling presented Slammiversary as the company’s second pay-per-view this year on July 18. With lots of hype surrounding a plethora of potential surprises, the event was also backed by a strong card where Impact’s finest could showcase their talent.

Here are the seven matches that were advertised ahead of time on ImpactWrestling.com:

"Impact World Championship Match – Eddie Edwards vs. Ace Austin vs. Trey vs. TBD Impact Knockouts Championship Match – Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Deonna Purrazzo Impact Tag Team Championship Match – The North (c) vs. Sami Callihan & Ken Shamrock Impact X-Division Championship Match – Willie Mack (c) vs. Chris Bey “Old School Rules” TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match – Moose (c) vs. Tommy Dreamer #1 Contender’s Gauntlet Match – Rosemary vs. Susie vs. Taya Valkyrie vs. Havok vs. Kiera Hogan vs. Tasha Steelz vs. Nevaeh vs. Kimber Lee vs. Alisha Edwards vs. Kylie Rae vs. Madison Rayne Open Challenge – The Rascalz vs. TBD"

Did the surprises live up the hype? Who walked out with the vacant Impact World Championship? Let’s break down all the action.

The Rascalz vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Result: Motor City Machine Guns won by pinfall

Rating: 3.25/5.0 Stars

Grade: B+

It sucks that there’s no crowd for this event because MCMG’s return was worthy of a massive pop. Sabin and Shelley returning was heavily speculated on, but that doesn’t take away from how exciting it is to see them back in action against the up-and0coming Rascalz. On an aesthetic note, Sabin with short hair will take some getting used to, but he looked great from the start. ‘

Lots of back and forth action filled the match as expected. Sabin favored his knee toward the end, but luckily he got back up and helped Shelley nail their double finisher for the pin on Dez.

This was a great opener! It’s disappointing to see The Rascalz take another loss, but hopefully this means MCMG are here to stay in Impact Wrestling to help build the tag team division back up. In fact, I could see either team going all-in on a heel turn in the coming weeks. That could work out really well for The Rascalz if Trey also comes up short in the main event.
