Knockouts Championship Match: Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Result: Deonna tapped out Jordynne to capture the title

Rating: 4.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: A

Deonna and Jordynne both looked like absolute money during their entrances! WWE’s loss is absolutely Impact’s gain when it comes to utilizing Deonna properly. I had no problem with The Virturosa being put in this position from the start because she has been waiting for a breakthrough moment, and it’s finally here!

Deonna worked Jordynne’s arm methodically before Jordynne came back with her powerhouse maneuvers. These two worked so well together and put on what I believe is my favorite Knockouts match of the year. I’ll go ahead and put that out there now.

There’s a lot that can be done from here. Deonna’s first challenger looks to be Kylie, which will be very entertaining. Jordynne could stay in the Knockouts division, but she could also easily transition to the World Title picture and fill the void following Tessa’s departure.

Impact World Championship Elimination Match: Ace Austin vs. Trey vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Rich Swann vs. Eric Young

Result: Eddie pinned Ace to win the vacant title

Rating: 4.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: A

Surprise! Rich Swann and Eric Young both returned to action to replace both Tessa and Elgin. Swann coming out first was a little underwhelming, so EY coming to the rescue as the former World Champion was relieving. Once all five were in the ring, I realized this was an interesting dynamic of former X-Division competitors and champions all vying for the World Title.

This match was competed under elimination rules, with the underdog Trey going out first. Eric Young was surprisingly out second by Rich Swann, which set up EY beating Swann down. Ace Austin capitalized and officially took Swann out of the match. When it came down to Ace and Eddie, they kept countering each other until Eddie put Ace away with a package driver for the three!

Eddie has been a personal favorite for some time, and there’s no doubt that he’s the heart and soul of the company these days. I’m so happy to see him win the big one again in the main event of a major pay-per-view. And then Gallows and Anderson came out to help fend off Ace and Fulton, which strangely added to the feel-good ending.

Oh, and there’s the EC3 teaser we’ve been waiting for! EC3 vs. Eddie should be inevitable, and I’m here for it. Slammiversary delivered on all fronts from surprises to title changes to in-ring quality. Kudos to Impact for another great pay-per-view.
