WWE SmackDown: 3 reasons why Big E should win the Intercontinental Title

Some superstars have all the tools to be a part of the main event picture, but booking prevents that from happening. With Big E winning the IC title after seven years his trajectory can completely change. But it’s not enough to just win the title, a meaningful title reign should accommodate that. A reign that showcases the same performer that was an NXT champion.

If Big E was able to make it to the top of the mountain in NXT, there’s no reason he can’t do so on Raw or WWE SmackDown. In his championship victory in NXT, E went toe to toe with Seth Rollins and the Shield. Rollins is considered a top performer and workhorse for the company and E went over him. The one thing that stands out from that match is the parallel of the locker room going to war for E, similar to the locker room rallying behind Kofi in 2019.

WWE Hall of Famers and current superstars have been vocal about E getting a shot. The only thing standing in the way is creative being willing to make a bold move. Which is not out of the realm of possibility, because fans just witnessed Otis win the Money In The Bank ladder match.

If fans are to expect Otis to successfully cash in and become a World Champion down the road, pulling the trigger on E should be easy. E was at one point the face of NXT, and he’s only improved and become a more charismatic character. This all starts with the IC title and this time next year we could be looking at a meat slapping contest between Otis and Big E for the WWE title.
