WWE NXT TakeOver XXX took place on August 22 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT live on the WWE Network.

NXT! NXT! NXT! The black and gold brand was stacked tonight with high-caliber matches at the 30th NXT Takeover. Albeit the weekly shows are a mix of hotshot booking and contrived storylines, the NXT Takeover XXX card has shaped up quite nicely thus far with some exciting championship matches and a questionably booked grudge match between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee.

Will the 30th Takeover be historic? There’s only one way to figure out. With that being said, it’s now time to bleed black and gold and recap what happened at this PPV, starting with the kickoff triple threat tag number one contender’s match amongst Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, Breezango, and Legado Del Fantasma.

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. Breezango vs. Legado Del Fantasma [Triple Threat Match]

Result: Breezango (via pinfall)

Grade: C+, Fun kickoff match to kickstart the PPV. Nothing special, but it was splendid to see Breezango earn another title shot against Imperium. Hopefully, they actually win their first championships in the WWE.

Raul Mendoza delivered a Corkscrew Plancha on the outside to kick up the offense in this match. However, Lorcan and Burch rallied back with Missile Dropkicks and German Suplexes. As soon as Lorcan and Burch were about to capitalize with a victory off a DDT, the other teams broke up the pin. Breezango delivered the leg drop on Lorcan to pick up the victory and become the next number one contenders for Imperium’s NXT Tag Team Championships.

Finn Balor vs. Timothy Thatcher [Grudge Match]

Result: Finn Balor (via pinfall)

Grade: B+, Great match! The technical prowess of this match was off the charts.  Looks like Finn Balor will be next for whoever becomes the next NXT North American Champion. It’s only a matter of time before his momentum translates into a championship victory.

Timothy Thatcher gained early control in this match with his grappling prowess and rest holds. However, Finn Balor regained momentum with his patented dropkicks. Balor was about to capitalize with the Coup De Grace. However, he landed on his ankle and Thatcher took advantage of Balor’s worked injury with the Half Boston Crab. Balor was able to break the hold, deliver some SlingBlades and Dropkicks and a Coup De Grace and 1916 for the victory.
