WWE SummerSlam 2020 took place on August 23, 2020, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

“You’ll never see it coming.” This hyperbolic slogan for WWE SummerSlam 2020 might resonate with RETRIBUTION’s recent unforeseen attacks. Could these attacks affect the main event of this PPV before the WWE Universe’s very eyes?

Will this SummerSlam be wacky, as Vince McMahon promised? There’s only one way to find out. With that being said, it’s now time to recap what happened at this PPV, starting with the kickoff United States Championship match between Apollo Crews and MVP.

Apollo Crews (c) vs. MVP [United States Championship]

Result: Apollo Crews (via pinfall)

Rating: 3.0/5.0 Stars

Grade: C+, This match deserved more time but it was decent for the time it had. Nonetheless, Apollo’s title matches should not be on the kickoff. That’s disrespectful.

MVP gained early control in the match, but Apollo Crews delivered a Tope Con Hilo to MVP to regain momentum in the match. He delivered some key Enziguiris to continue his offense. MVP attempted the Playmaker, but Crews countered it into a Spin Out Powerbomb for the pinfall and the victory. Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin ran in to attack Crews, but Crews escaped before getting attacked to put a close to the kickoff.
