WWE’s second-biggest Pay Per View of the year is in the books, but what comes next after SummerSlam?

Normally, WWE fans have a clear idea of which Pay Per Views are coming up on the calendar schedule, as the company announces its “B” PPVs ahead of time, interspersed between the “Big 5” PPVs of the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series. But this year, announcements on locations and PPV dates have been later than usual due to the pandemic.

WWE are trying new things to spike the ratings, too, and one of those is having an “overflow” show after SummerSlam.

Usually Pay Per Views are a month apart, but the next Pay Per View after SummerSlam will be Payback in one week on Aug. 30.

Payback, like SummerSlam, will take place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. WWE has a contract to run shows at the Amway Center through October 30.

There is only one more reported Pay Per View between Payback and the end of October, and that is another “B” Pay Per View that took place last Fall, Clash of Champions. The Clash of Champions PPV is reportedly scheduled to take place on Sept. 23.

Hell in a Cell is a yearly staple in WWE despite not being considered a Big 5 PPV. Due to its theme, it usually takes place around October for Halloween, and it appears the current plan is for Hell in a Cell to take place in October.

After that, Survivor Series is a slam-dunk for November, but it’s entirely unclear what will happen later in the Fall with COVID-19 and with the location of the shows. Perhaps the contract with the Amway Center would be extended, as needed.

Finally, NXT TakeOver specials are considered PPVs by fans on the WWE Network, and they showcase the best of the Black and Gold brand.

TakeOver 30 took place on the Saturday before SummerSlam, and the next TakeOver Special will take place at Full Sail University – NXT’s former venue before COVID-19 – on Oct. 4. The name of the next TakeOver has not been announced yet.

Because of travel restrictions due to COVID-19, NXT UK has been unable to run shows. NXT TakeOver: Dublin has thus been postponed to October, but fans should not be surprised if it is postponed again due to COVID-19. That said, weekly episodes of NXT UK will return in September.
