With SummerSlam officially in the books, we look forward to WWE Payback 2020 this Sunday and predict the full card and who will be a winner that night.

The tagline for SummerSlam was “you’ll never see it coming,” and that certainly rang true by the time the night came to a close. Now, the stage is set as WWE plows forward to this Sunday’s WWE Payback 2020 just seven days after SummerSlam.

We saw eight big matches at SummerSlam, and together they delivered one of WWE’s most excellent pay-per-view events in quite some time. Apollo Crews successfully defended the United States Championship against MVP during the WWE Payback Kickoff Show, but Crews’ issues with The Hurt Business are far from over.

Bayley successfully defended her SmackDown Women’s Title against Asuka, but unfortunately Sasha Banks couldn’t repeat the feat and lost her Raw Women’s Championship to “The Empress of Tomorrow” later that same night. The Street Profits retained their titles, and Mandy Rose picked up a huge win to force Sonya Deville to leave WWE.

In one of the biggest moments at SummerSlam, Dominik Mysterio took on Seth Rollins in a Street Fight that was an instant Match of the Year contender. That personal rivalry continued the next night on WWE Raw, but a tag team match pitting Dominik and Rey against Rollins and Murphy couldn’t come to a close before RETRIBUTION appeared and ambushed Dominik and Rey Mysterio.

While a rematch could be set for these four at WWE Payback, I’m expecting WWE to instead show a rare moment of restraint by keeping Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik off the show to further show the impact of RETRIBUTION’s assault. Speaking of assaults, Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton at SummerSlam only to be viciously attacked by “The Legend Killer” on WWE Raw to the point that McIntyre won’t be competing at WWE Payback.

Finally, the moment at SummerSlam that no one saw coming and ultimately set the stage for the main event of WWE Payback was the Universal Championship Falls Count Anywhere Match where Braun Strowman defended against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. Ultimately “The Fiend” took the win and became the new champion, but it was the shocking return of Roman Reigns after the match and his attack on both Wyatt and Strowman that has set them up for a No Holds Barred Triple Threat Match at WWE Payback.
