The Rated-R Superstar left the WWE Universe in shock nine years ago when he announced his retirement nine years ago, but The Ultimate Opportunist knew that he had something in him that wanted him to come back to the squared circle. After a nine-year hiatus, the former WWE Champion made a surprise return during this year’s Royal Rumble match at the event of the same name and blew the roof off.
His return was shortlived thanks to a former friend turned foe on the following night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, but it set the stage for a phenomenal feud at The Grandest Stage of them All. It led to a backlash between the two leading to a match at an event of the same name.
The company had less time by their side, and so they used the most effective method of utilizing their Search Engine Optimization solutions. They gave it a catchy catchphrase of ‘Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ which helped the company get more traction however the forty-four-minute match didn’t deliver on expectations.
Edge suffered an injury and has been out of action since, but we all know how these arch-rivals became tag team partners before going their separate ways.
