WWE Rumors: Brock Lesnar’s possible WrestleMania 37 opponent
WWE WrestleMania 37 is a long way off in the distance, but it’s safe to say Brock Lesnar will have a role to play.
Brock Lesnar, as his character is booked, is often described as the most-hated man by the WWE Universe. The Beast Incarnate has been in a world title match at WrestleMania 33, 34, 35, and 36, main-eventing multiple ‘Manias in the process.
Often described as an “attraction”, Lesnar hasn’t been a part of WWE since WrestleMania 36, which makes sense since he’s not as much of an “attraction” without fans. Perhaps this changes with the Thunderdome, but Lesnar is currently without a contract.
Vince McMahon will surely hand him a new, lucrative deal by the time WrestleMania season kicks off in January 2021 with the road to the Royal Rumble. Lesnar’s streak of WrestleMania world title matches probably won’t end in Hollywood.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote more about Lesnar’s future with WWE. And inside, via Sportskeeda.com’s Lennard Surrao, he spoke about the possible WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 37.
WWE has thought of Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37
There have reportedly been discussions of having a Lesnar vs. McIntyre rematch if McIntyre remains the champion going into WrestleMania. That makes sense, since McIntyre and Lesnar were initially scheduled to have a rematch at SummerSlam, just like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins had two matches at ‘Mania and SummerSlam against The Beast in the same year.
But it also seems increasingly likely that Randy Orton will win the WWE Title and feud with Edge at WrestleMania next year, or WWE could go in another direction entirely. In that case, Lesnar’s role at the Show of Shows is less clear.
There are so many options for WWE and Lesnar, including those involving Paul Heyman, who is now working with a new version of Roman Reigns.
Lesnar is a huge name for WWE and is, yes, a draw who is highly-paid by the company. He’ll always be given a big feud or storyline around the company’s “money” period, which is the months preceding WrestleMania.
