WWE Rumors: Here’s when Elias could potentially return
WWE fans have been missing Elias on Friday nights, but he’s reportedly not expected to return for another few months.
The last time WWE fans saw Elias, “The Drifter” was written off television in a car accident on the May 29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Elias had suffered a torn pectoral muscle and would have to miss six to nine months with the injury.
Before being written off television, Elias was in a program with one of SmackDown’s top heels, King Corbin. The rivalry began during WrestleMania season and seemed to be poised to continue into the summer months.
Now, Elias is on the shelf, and wrestling fans have been missing WWE’s premier musical act.
In a recent update on his SmackDown preview show, via Sportskeeda.com’s Kishan Prasad, Tom Colohue stated that wrestling fans will have to wait until at least December, perhaps into 2021, for Elias’ return to WWE television.
Elias is a beloved babyface (or heel) in WWE
Fans can only hope Elias’ recovery has gone well, since we haven’t heard much from the great guitar player since his last appearance on television over three months ago.
Although Elias isn’t one of SmackDown’s top stars, he’s a beloved babyface and a great mid-carder who could win the United States Title or Intercontinental Title in 2021 after returning. Elias is a four-time 24/7 Champion in WWE, but he hasn’t won any other titles on Raw, SmackDown, or NXT since being called up to the main roster in April 2017.
Hopefully, Elias will be back this winter, and maybe he can return in time to be a surprise Royal Rumble entrant. That would be prime time for him to come back, and he could get a nice return pop from the Thunderdome. Heck, he could even stage his own concert inside the ring. That would be a welcome return! (But please keep him away from Corbin, unless if he’s the one who eliminates Corbin in the Rumble).
