Impact Wrestling: Top five factions in history
1. The Main Event Mafia
The Main Event Mafia was one of the most star-studded factions of all time – Kurt Angle, Sting, Booker T, Kevin Nash, and Scott Steiner were all former world champions before teaming up and ran roughshod over Impact Wrestling as soon as they formed in October 2008. Samoa Joe, Christian Cage, and Rampage Jackson would later join the faction.
Angle was ‘the godfather’ of the group and demanded respect from the younger wrestlers on the Impact roster, if they didn’t comply, The Main Event Mafia would beat the respect into them.
That standpoint led to The Main Event Mafia feuding with the Frontline – a faction made up of Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley, Team 3D, Rhino, and other Impact originals. The Frontline were angry that Impact had become victims of a hostile takeover and defended their company. The two factions had several matches, the highlight coming at Final Resolution 2008, when The Main Event Mafia was victorious.
The Main Event Mafia won numerous titles, in different promotions individually, and they continued those winning ways as a collective – capturing seven championships in Impact.
With such illustrious names, it’s easy to see why The Main Event Mafia is the best faction in Impact history.
