WWE SmackDown: Ranking the top 5 moments since moving to FOX
WWE SmackDown has aired on Friday nights on FOX since Oct. 4, and the show has continued to deliver memorable moments over the past 11 months.
When WWE SmackDown first moved from Tuesdays on the USA Network to Fridays on FOX in the Fall, there was a lot of initial hype that slowly turned into a lull as the calendar shifted towards 2021. But recently, SmackDown has felt like the “A” show in WWE again, especially with the return of Roman Reigns.
The Big Dog will, of course, but represented on this list, but which other wrestlers created some of the best moments on the Blue Brand since SmackDown’s first episode on FOX on Oct. 4, 2019?
Bray Wyatt and John Cena trade words, March 13, 2020
John Cena is one of the best promos in WWE history, and even the few fans who remain his detractors cannot dispute this point. When wrestlers first start performing in silent arenas without fans, there was some awkwardness, but Cena and Bray Wyatt offered a Shakespearan example of how to make things work in this environment.
While Cena’s parts in this act of that week’s WWE SmackDown play were hit with conviction and purpose, Wyatt stole the show with his response to Cena absolutely lighting into him for being WWE’s most entitled superstar.
Wyatt needed to have a huge showing in this rivalry after dropping the Universal Title to Goldberg in Saudi Arabia. The cinematic match at WrestleMania 36 was a big deal in itself, but a build in a feud with Cena is where a wrestler can really raise their profile. Wyatt checked off all the boxes here, and Cena, as always, pushed the right buttons.
