WWE: Zelina Vega has huge support from Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman
Zelina Vega could have a WWE Raw Women’s Championship opportunity against Asuka on the horizon, and she has plenty of backstage support.
Since late 2017, Zelina Vega has been one of the best talkers in WWE. She emerged on the scene as Andrade “Cien” Almas’ manager in NXT, guiding El Idolo to the NXT Championship and making his feuds with Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black, and Johnny Gargano that much more memorable.
Zelina was a standout on SmackDown as Andrade’s manager, too, and now on Raw, she has distinguished herself as a rising star. She may be branching out on her own after Andrade and Angel Garza’s latest backstage dust-up, as her two struggling clients may be breaking up after more antics from Garza.
Vega will prosper. She’s already called out Asuka for a Raw Women’s Title match, which could happen at Clash of Champions at the end of September.
A multi-talented superstar, Zelina recently appeared on D-Von Dudley’s Table Talk podcast to reveal Vince McMahon once told her that she is one of his favorite superstars to watch:
"“It’s interesting because before quarantine happened, Vince would always say ‘you are one of my favorites. You are one of the reasons I watch Raw and I love your character.’ It was such an honor to hear that.”"

Hearing Vince’s constant backstage praise for Zelina is wonderful to hear, and hopefully that translates into her getting a real push as 2020 closes. Vega is the best manager in the game, but she’s also capable of being a champion as a singles star.
Paul Heyman was also a big supporter of Zelina Vega’s on WWE Raw
Vince isn’t the only notable name in the wrestling business to have shown Vega support. She also said in the same podcast appearance that Paul Heyman, former head of Raw creative, “really believed” in Zelina. And she added that she looks up to Heyman as a manager.
Heyman should never have been removed as the head of Raw, because he has a great eye for talent. Angel Garza, Andrade, Alesiter Black, and a few others were pushed more heavily thanks to Heyman, who was also high on Cedric Alexander when Vince McMahom seemingly doubted him.
There’s no dou that Zelina Vega can do great things on Raw in the coming months, and we can only cross our fingers that Vince McMahon’s past praise for her ends up manifesting in real opportunities for the talented superstar.
