2. WWE Raw revolves around Randy Orton

For the last couple of months, Randy Orton has regularly been involved in Raw’s beginning and closing angles. The Viper is producing some of the best work of his career right now with his threatening promos, unrelenting physicality, and sinister acting. Orton is putting it all together in 2020, and it’s helping himself, Drew McIntyre, and rising star Keith Lee.

I love that Orton leaned into the privilege and went full heel there, literally saying that he doesn’t need to earn title opportunities. That’s a great way to get more heat and start a conversation, which is exactly what WWE wants from its top heels. Orton just gets it.

1. Asuka is the best wrestler on WWE Raw

As impressive as Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre are, it’s really not even close. Asuka, The Empress of Tomorrow, sets a benchmark on Monday nights that few can come close to measuring up to, especially when we are talking about her work inside the ring.

Asuka put together some of the best television matches we’ve seen this year against Sasha Banks and Bayley, who are both on her level in the ring. And against Zelina Vega, who isn’t as known in WWE as a singles wrestler, she brought out the best in a rising star. Asuka’s selling in both matches at Clash of Champions and on Raw was impeccable.

The Empress is brilliant at everything. Selling, facial expressions, promos, offense, creativity, being a ring general, you name it. Every week you watch her, know how lucky we all are to be able to witness her work.
