The splintering of the Undisputed Era begins

Kyle O’Reilly is set to compete against Finn Balor for the NXT championship. This is a major match for hardcore wrestling fans. This is an opportunity for O’Reilly to show that he can compete with the one of the best performers that WWE has to offer. Winning would go a long way in establishing him as a potential name within the organization. But it would also overshadow the fact that one, Adam Cole could not beat Balor, and that should not sit well with the leader of the Undisputed Era.

Cole has hyped up this match in a sense that is almost eerie. O’Reilly can win the title, just to have Cole turn on him then and be the next challenger or, Cole can cost O’Reilly the belt, setting off the splintering of that faction.  Looking at the makeup of the UE, O’Reilly would be the face against three dangerous heels in Cole, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. In some ways, that creates angst around the long-term building within that group, but it would create some strong stories for the immediate future.

Either way, the outcome of the main event on Sunday will bring about the unfortunate end of the Undisputed Era.
