WWE Draft 2020: 5 feuds that need to be created
The WWE Draft needs to give us Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair again
This is a wrong that WWE needs to set right. Superstardom was on the horizon for Rhea Ripley when she was beaten by Charlotte Flair clean at WrestleMania. The NXT Women’s division was the hottest thing in the company when Rhea Ripley dethroned Shayna Baszler to become the NXT Women’s Champion and guess what? It was one of the few times when NXT actually beat AEW in ratings.
This ratings win was a big one for NXT and it was a testament to all the hard work the NXT guys did and an even bigger testament to the hard work of these 2 women in the main event. And then this ratings draw got turned into another “NXT crew can’t hang with main roster crew” story. Charlotte Flair, who was already a 10-time champ and didn’t need the win in the slightest, beat one of NXT’s hottest stars on the grandest stage of them all. It didn’t help Ripley, it certainly didn’t help Charlotte, and it devalued the title greatly, rendering the satisfying conclusion to Shayna’s dominant reign of terror useless.
It’s been about 6 months and Ripley still hasn’t fully recovered, floundering on the NXT mid-card. The only way to set this right is to debut Ripley on the main roster, which she’s more than ready for, and let her go straight after Charlotte. Ripley can move from NXT to RAW or SmackDown as part of the WWE Draft by interrupting Charlotte in one of her speeches and say some badass line like, “It’s payback time b*tch” or something to that effect and it could set up an epic clash in which Ripley would destroy Charlotte to gain her mojo back.
Also, not many fans remember this due to the bad booking but their match at WrestleMania was actually pretty solid, so it would be great to see them in a rematch. This win would put a lot of hype in Ripley’s stock and would set her up as one of the major players in the division.
They can have more matches down the line with potential triple threats with the champions. Rhea doesn’t win back the NXT title, instead, she beats one of the biggest female stars in history and then possibly goes on to win a championship and become a true main-event player in WWE.
