By Sam Gladen
A top Ring of Honor wrestling star who has been pivotal in the brand’s post-Elite era is on an expiring contract.
Initially reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, top Ring of Honor wrestling star and current Ring of Honor World Champion RUSH’s contract with the company is set to expire in the coming months. [H/T: WrestlingNews.Co’s Andrew Ravens.]
His contract was initially singed in conjunction with major Mexican promotion CMLL whom Ring of Honor currently has a working relationship with. While there has been no confirmation from either promotion or the wrestler in question about the status of contract negotiations between the parties the possibility for a free agent RUSH operating primarily in the United States does lead to several interesting possibilities.
He could go to All Elite Wrestling, who is set to celebrate one year of television programming this Wednesday on TNT. This would open the door for several dream matches.
Where would RUSH land after Ring of Honor?
However, if he were to opt not for Jacksonville, Florida, and instead for Stamford, Connecticut. This could lead to his reuniting with Andrade. Who during his time in Mexico operated under a mask as La Sombra, a member of RUSH’s Los Ingobernables stable.
Andrade has struggled during his time on the main roster of WWE and could use a bit of international cache to propel him to his full potential at the top of the card in the largest wrestling company in the world. RUSH has that cache.
Where ever he ends up. Whether choosing to stay with Ring of Honor, or moving on to AEW or WWE. Any promotion that is able to get him to sign a contract is better off for it. His name recognition goes farther than just those fans who followed his time in Mexico, MLW, and Ring Of Honor. He is at the end of the day, a wrestler of the absolute highest caliber. Wherever he goes fans will follow.
